On 14th March, 2025, FIAN Zambia’s participated in the Women on Farms Project (WFP) workshop, a feminist workshop initiative brought across women from across Southern Africa convened to critically reflect on the region’s most pressing challenges through a feminist lens. The workshop provided a safe and empowering space for participants to engage in discussions on political instability, economic crises, and climate disasters, which continue to disproportionately affect women, particularly in rural areas.
Women face systemic barriers in accessing land, financial resources, and decision-making platforms, further deepening existing inequalities. These challenges are exacerbated by climate change, which threatens food security and livelihoods, making it even more difficult for women to sustain themselves and their communities.
Through knowledge-sharing and collective reflection, participants explored ways to strengthen women’s leadership and advocacy efforts in addressing these structural challenges. The discussions emphasized the need for inclusive policies that prioritize women’s rights, economic empowerment, and climate resilience. As the workshop concluded, participants underscored the importance of feminist solidarity and collaboration in shaping a more just and equitable future for women in Southern Africa.
