In May 2025 and June 2025, FIAN Zambia, in collaboration with Zambia Climate Change Network (ZCCN), conducted a right to food assessment in Maala (Lealui Ward) and Mawawa (Kande Ward) villages of Mongu District and Mulolo, Kazimule, Chigumula, Chinthachi, Mkololo, Tafelansoni, Naviluli, and Zingalume  villages of Chadiza District, Zambia. The assessment was conducted under the Gender and Climate Justice in Food Systems (GCJFS) project supported by SIDA through We Effect. The assessment aimed at:

1. Understanding how communities are coping with food insecurity, climate shocks, limited government support, and unequal access to essential services.

2. Understanding lived experiences of food insecurity, social protection gaps, and climate change impacts—especially among women, youth, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

The assessment gathered firsthand testimonies through focus group discussions and community dialogues.
