Policies against Hunger Conference – Berlin

4th to 5th June, 2024, FIAN Zambia and two Community members from Mumbwa district of Zambia participated at the Policies against Hunger Conference in Berlin, where it emphasized the critical importance of strengthening the governance of natural resources. The organization highlighted that natural resources are central to the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and rural communities, providing essential support for food production and local economies.
FIAN Zambia raised concerns about the ongoing commercialization of these resources, noting that such trends have had harmful effects on rural populations undermining access to land, water, and forests. The organization called for inclusive policies that protect community rights and ensure that resource management is equitable, sustainable, and community driven, broaden public awareness.
