On 1st February 2024, a delegation from the Masaiti community visited FIAN Zambia to engage in a critical dialogue on human rights violations being experienced in their area. The meeting focused on the adverse social and environmental impacts affecting the community, including land-related grievances, loss of livelihoods, pollution, and threats to food and water security. The visit aimed to explore strategies for collaboration in demanding accountability and securing justice for affected households.

During the engagement, FIAN Zambia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting communities in asserting their human rights, particularly the Right to Food, and emphasized the importance of building grassroots power to hold duty bearers accountable. The discussions also laid the groundwork for potential legal and advocacy interventions, with a shared commitment to amplify community voices in decision making spaces
